Our New Spindle Chairs

Introducing the spindle chairs that I have wanted for years!

I have wanted new spindle chairs for the longest time and I finally purchased a set. I researched them for years before I purchased a pair. If you new to spindle chairs, they are often very expensive. I’m going to share how you can get the look for less and share several options for every budget!

First, never underestimate your local Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, or second-hand shops. I have been so close to buying several chairs that way, but I decided to go ahead and purchase them new. A while ago I found one dark spindle chair with animal print fabric to makeover and I held onto it forever but I was unable to find a matching chair.

Next, check your local Home Goods, Marshall’s, TJ Maxx, Steinmart, and Tuesday Morning. They often have these styles of chairs in stock, but there is no guarantee. Unfortunately during this pandemic, I was unable to visit these shops.

I’ve found that our local home decor shops offer a more expensive version that is fully customizable. If it is in your budget, I highly suggest contacting them to order your chairs. Many of them continue to offer contactless shopping, minimal shopping in stores, and virtual shopping options. Let’s continue to support our small businesses as much as we can!

Finally, I’ve found several options online. Some may not look exactly what you want but that’s where paint comes into the story. Find something that is great for your budget and imagine it’s overall potential, an example of what I am sharing with you next.

Spindle Chairs for Every Budget

There are several different spindle chairs available for every budget. I’m sharing a few options here, some high and some low. The cost also depends on your wood finish and upholstery preferences!

Our Spindle Chairs

I ordered the Amedeo Armchair from Birch Lane, via Wayfair. They will send you free samples of fabric to help with your purchase. Our previous living room sofas were upholstered with “Max Buff” and I knew I that loved that fabric, so I ordered them without getting samples. “Max Buff” is not a performance fabric, but the covers remove and I feel confident that I can keep them clean with our children. Worst case scenario, I can easily replace the covers. When our chairs arrived, I was so excited to find that they are manufactured in America by Klaussner, the SAME company that manufactured our last set of sofas. What a win! We have several Klaussner pieces in our home so this made me feel so much better about the quality of what I ordered.

Comfort and Care

The craftsmanship of the chairs is great! The seats are really comfortable with firm seat cushions. The back cushions are softer with less filling. Care instructions from the website can be found here: “Vacuum or brush frequently to remove dust. Spot clean using a water-free solvent or dry cleaning product. Use a professional cleaning service on tough dirt and grime.”

Painting the Chairs

I knew when ordering the chairs that I would not be happy with the base color. I have used Fusion Mineral Paint on several projects and I love the end results. For this project I decided to use the color Casement to give them a crisp white look and match our new coffee table. I am so in love with our new chairs! They add so much character to our living room and I cannot wait for the rest of our new furniture to arrive. Have a wonderful week!
