Decorating for the Holidays

Changing out my home decor with the turn of the seasons is one of my favorite things to do. I recently added some neutral fall touches, and somehow it’s already time to bring out the Christmas decor! If your husband is anything like mine, he doesn’t like when we just “forget” about Thanksgiving. And while I do love Christmas, I agree that Thanksgiving deserves its time to shine! That’s why I’ve partnered with Wayfair to create a gorgeous tablescape and dining area that I can enjoy all season long – from the first leaf hitting the ground to the time the ball drops on New Years.

I love keeping things pretty simple and neutral when it comes decorating for the holidays. I always incorporate lots of garlands and greenery as well as natural textures like woven knits, velvet accents, and a little bit of shine.

Finding the Perfect Table

I’ve been searching high and low to find a new dining table for my breakfast nook and I found the perfect wooden rectangular one a few weeks ago. I loved my previous table, but I wanted to warm up the space with some darker wood tones in preparation for our upcoming kitchen remodel. I’ve rounded up several tables from Wayfair below! I love that this one can seat several people for all the holiday festivities and entertaining.

Classic Dining Chairs

I’ve been hunting for vintage ladderback chairs on my thrifting trips for months and when I finally came across a set and I immediately fell in love. They have a classic and timeless shape and a gorgeous rush seat, plus I love the unique detailing on the back.

They go with so many home designs and will never go out of style. I also love that they’re solid wood! Wayfair has a ton of on trend and budget-friendly dining chair options to help bring your own dining space together. Number 1 is very similar to the ones I thrifted!

Rug + Tabletop

Now for the fun part! Once we’ve got our tables and chairs figured out, it’s time to add all the little details to really bring the room together. I always like to ground a room with a rug – it brings the whole design together and can instantly make a space feel warm and inviting. I have my eye on this plaid rug from Wayfair for a touch of holiday fun without being too overwhelming. It’s a classic pattern that can carry me from fall to winter.

Table top is where you can really get creative and let your personal style shine through. If you’ve been following along for awhile, you know I love neutrals like creams, whites, tans, and browns with touches of blue for my home. I keep true to that during the holidays but like to add in a few seasonal touches with garlands, pattern, and just a touch of sparkle and my tabletop is no exception.

I like to start with a placemat or charger with either a fun pattern or texture. I almost always go for something woven to keep it interesting and tie in my coastal style. If you choose a pattern, just make sure it doesn’t clash with your rug or napkins!

Next up, add some pretty dishware. I’m loving the stoneware trend right now and think it’s the perfect choice in these chillier months. Depending on your personal style, you can either add in touches of gold or silver. I like the warmer gold tones in my own home to break up all the white and this flatware is a gorgeous addition to any place setting!

For glassware, you can keep it traditional or go for something a little more unique. These ribbed glasses caught my eye and would be so gorgeous on a Thanksgiving tablescape. These light brown glasses are also a beautiful option that are kid-friendly too. Top everything off with a fun napkin (I love a print!) and a seasonal napkin ring, and you’ve got yourself a magazine-worthy holiday tablescape!
