Coastal Inspired Playroom – Splurge & Save

A collage of coastal inspired playroom decor including furniture, wall art, lighting, and storage for toys.

Happy Friday! I’m here with another coastal inspired room and this time it’s a coastal playroom for your little ones. Our playroom is one of the most used spaces in our home aside from our bed and shower. We love that the kids have a space to call their own and a place to store their toys. In this post, I have included splurge and save options with links to many of my favorite playroom necessities. You can view more of my splurge and save posts here.

Playroom Rugs

If you can afford it, Dash & Albert rugs really are the way to go. They are durable and most of them can be hosed off when they are dirty. Unfortunately, they are not always affordable. Safavieh offers several rugs that are similar and that are available at several retailers.

Kid’s Playroom Furniture

Our kids love having a nice and comfy sofa in the playroom. It’s a great place to watch movies and read their books. I do recommend purchasing a sofa with a slipcover that you can wash. We also love having a small table and chairs where they can do arts and crafts. Finally, I recommend a large storage piece where you can place baskets to hide away all of the toys and keep them organized at the same time.

Two wooden storage cabinets site side by side. The first storage cabinet has 4 sections, designed by West Elm, and costs $799. The second cabinet is a lighter wood finish, has 8 cubed sections, and costs $196 from Target.

Play Accessories for a Kids’ Playroom

We love pretend play in our house. I’m including some of my favorite play items. Most of these are for the younger children in your family.

Playroom Lighting

Lighting is a great way to add style to the playroom. I feel like this is a space where you can be daring and add something out of your comfort zone.

Two similar light figures, both gold with white glass globes. The light fixture on the right is from Wayfair and costs $209, the light fixture on the left is from West Elm and costs $499.

Kids’ Playroom Accessories & Decor

Etsy is your bestie when decorating your playroom. There are so many cute options for personalizing your space. I love a cute banner in addition to art prints and local maps. The kids also love having a chalkboard that gets decorated with each season. Don’t be afraid to use fun toys as decor as well. Lastly, add in some plants to clean the air and give the room a natural addition.

Two digital art prints, both geographic displays of Sullivan's Island. One print is black and white, showing streets and highways of Sullivan's Island. The second print is a teal blue geographic print highlighting the waterways and streets of Sullivan's Island.

I hope this is helpful for designing your coastal playroom. I love designing sweet rooms for our little ones and hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Have a great weekend!
