Master Bedroom Decor Inspiration

When decorating our homes, why do we wait and finish the master bedrooms last? This has been true in the last three homes I have decorated. Our master bedroom should be our oasis to retreat to daily, but it’s just a hodgepodge mess and begging for a makeover. With the start of 2019, I have decided to complete my master bedroom. I’m going to start by sharing inspiration for my designs, then products I am eyeing, and a design board.

Our drab master bedroom needs some serious design makeover! This master bedroom has all black furniture, plain white walls and lifeless fabrics.

Master Bedroom Decor Wishlist

While a lot of these items are on my wishlist, they are not reality. As always, I promise to scour consignment stores, local vendors, and online discount shops for items similar to these!

Master Bedroom Accent Pillows

I am a sucker for pillows. I currently own more pillows than pairs of shoes. I love them and cannot get enough. Unfortunately, this is an expensive habit and while I love to drool of these pillow ideas, I doubt I will be spending my entire budget on these this time around!

I love these blue floral pillows! This set of pillows - two blue-toned floral and one patterned pillow - would go perfectly with farmhouse style or coastal style living rooms.

Lamps for the Master Bedroom

I am all over the place with lamps. I’m not quite sure which style I will go with, but I love all of these for inspiration.

These twin two-toned lamps are perfect for either side of the bed in the master bedroom.

I plan on layering a 8×10 rug on top of a larger jute rug. Very similar to our playroom setup.

DIY Master Bedroom Furniture Projects

The first project for our master bedroom will include making over a few pieces of furniture. This is our current dresser and bedside table set. While I love them, they are too dark when paired with our black bed. They are well made and we got them for a steal on Craigslist many years ago.

First, I will need to paint the nightstands. I will be using Fusion paint for this project. Next, I will either strip down the dresser to it’s raw wood. I will decide at that point if I will leave it raw, stain it, or paint it. Finally, I will replace the hardware or paint the existing hardware on all of the furniture. Here is some inspiration for the bedside tables and dresser.
