Neutral Living Room Decor Inspiration: Splurge & Save Options

Living Room Furniture Inspiration
If you haven’t noticed by now, I have a thing for raw and natural wood. I typically incorporate at least one or two pieces into every room I design. The natural wood reminds me of driftwood, instantly bringing coastal vibes into the room.

I love our current sofas so I went on a search to find those for you. They are the Klaussner sofas and can be found here. In my searching, I found that Wayfair offers a very similar sofa that can be customized for less than $1000, and it comes with amazing reviews. Finally, I have included several other sofas from various retailers that are on sale at the moment.

When using natural elements, I feel it is important to add a metal piece to your design. I found this end table from Wayfair that has a beautiful shape. It resembles a shell or reef, adding to the overall vibe of the room.

In this design, you have flexibility to use different pieces of furniture to achieve the coastal look. Depending on the size and layout of your room, you can swap out two chairs for another sofa. You can use a loveseat instead of a sofa. You can two chairs and one sofa. While two sofas can match, I prefer that the chairs and sofas are not “matching” but are on the same color palette. You can achieve this by using two wooden chairs or adding chairs with a muted pattern.

Living Room Rug Inspiration
Like I said before, I typically start with a neutral base and then add color to it. Large area rugs are expensive and hard to replace as your decor preferences evolve. Natural fiber rugs are a great way to fill up a space with a smaller price tag. Typically they are not as soft underfoot for a living space. This is where you can layer a high quality rug on top, adding color to your room.

Have you seen the new art prints available at Target? Several of the abstract prints have a coastal feel without picturing the beach or the marsh. I think it is important to incorporate abstract art to keep the room from feeling overly “themed.”

I am linking several decor pieces like lamps, baskets, pillows, and more. Layer books in a large oversized tray on your coffee table and add beads for texture. Select solid pillows and pair with pillows that have stripes and patterns. Remember, these are all items that can be swapped out as your style changes and you can easily use them to brighten up your space!
I hope you enjoyed this coastal living room inspiration. Next up, a laundry room and teen’s bedroom! Be on the lookout and make sure you sign up for emails so you don’t miss a post.

The link for the lesser upholstered chairs doesn’t seem to work. Could you identify them for us?
